My plans for my truck.

I just checked my tires air pressure and i put about 38PSI all around.

Then i found a place that will put on a flowmaster 40 series exhaust for 300 plus tax, so im gettign that. then when i get cash, im getting a intake. then plugs and wires. Not exackly in that order but u get the idea.

Is there anything else that will help?

BTW, is anyone is selling a speed grill let me know.

OD is simply the 5th gear in our automatics. Cancelling out OD simply keeps the truck from shifting all the way up to 5th gear and makes absolutely no difference in the lower gears. There is no reason to turn it off unless you are towing something heavy and the truck shifts or hunts gears constanly between 4th and 5th. Other than that, it makes no difference at all while accellerating from a stoplight or driving around town.

 

The most I've ever been able to put into my 98 regular cab was 13.49 gallons.

 

Im a little new here and a have done some calculations myself and only get about 12 mpg and i definitely have a lead foot. If im traveling for extended periods of time though i get more around 15 or 16 miles to the gallon. So far i have changed my spark plugs, air cleaner. plug wires regular 3k oil changes, always get about the same never really any more to count for. do you guys have any other tricks for better gas mileage other than to keep away from the lead foot?

 

Do the plugs and wires first. If they’re bad you will get the most benefit from those.

I would be leery of an “intake”. The 4.0 intake system is pretty good, just remove the silencer. If you search and I am sure some people will chime in soon about the benefits/downfalls of the “intake” ‘s that are available. I just removed the silencer and put a K/N stock replacement in mine. And if you look you will find opinions on the benefits and downfalls of that over the stock non-K/N replacement as well.

1st Plugs and wires if you suspect a mileage problem. AND add some seafoam to the tank with a good name brand 93 octane fuel. By name brand I don’t mean Wally world fuel and nothing with ethanol.

if youre real serious about mileage then look up the seafoam procedure for sucking it into a vaccume hose. Ive done it but remember to change the oil shortly after. Its a standard combustion engine so do the normal tune up stuff first before tuners, exhaust, and even an intake system. Thats where your bang for the buck stuff is for mileage issues. Then slow down that helps too.

I just traded in my 01 edge and I was getting 17-20mpg with it. I had the 3.0L / 5Speed. I was running 31x10.5x15 BFG TA/KO ( Brand New), Aloca wheels, 55 PSI in the tires. K&N Filter Charger System, & Gibson Cat Back Exhaust. I didn't drive it real hard but hard enough. 70mph Freeway, 50-55 off free way.
