351 questions

I read a few threads but nothing really pertain to what info I want.

My real only question is.... Is there anything special non Electrical wise you have to do to a 4x4 ranger in order to get a 351 (efi) to fit.

Exp. New oil pan, Custom headers.....

If I where to do this my plan would be to just tear all the wiring out of the F150 and put it into my truck. Custom dash and everything. I don't see why it wouldnt work then if everything was from the F150. Just ideas my little mind thinks of....and that zach puts into my mind

from what I searched it looks like the only thing is a new oil pan and custom headers. Sounds right>?

The 351 has a taller deck height than a 302 so it's going to be taller and wider. You may have more clearance issues with the HVAC box, brake booster, and hood.

If you change over all the wiring it should be fine.

one thing to consider aswell is what kind of transmission u plan on running behind the 351, if ur goin for a 4 speed like me, there will be some....massaging....of the trans tunnel, same for any manual really, but if ur runnin a auto the trans tunnel with a body lift should clear no issues, ALSO, if im not mistaken your truck in that year will have a rack and pinion instead fo conventional steering box, which provides more clearance for the headers on the drivers side, and you WILL need a dual sump oil pan, other then that, rock and roll

Stick or auto, wouldnt bother me ether way. If I where to do this I would keep the engine how it was from the factory until I can make sure it fits/i want to do it before I put 3 k into the engine

If it's a 351 with cleavland heads then be prepared for overheating issues those tend to produce excessive heat far more than the windsor. here's a wiring link for you: www.ronfrancis.com . they're just as good as O.E.M and Painless performance but not as expensive.
