91 F150 302 swap

My friends and I are planning on taking out the engine, trans, and a majority of the wiring and electrical and swapping it into my 2001 Ford ranger 3.0 xlt. The donor f150 is a 4 speed automatic 302 v8 with efi but runs on obd1. I’m noticing that a lot of these 5.0 swaps into rangers are from explorers and since the f150 is all we got I was needing some advice on how we would go about swapping it in. We have to rebuild the f150 engine a little bit so we are using a master rebuild kit from proengineers website, and we already know that we will need wiring harnesses, motor mounts, shortened drive axle, a stiffer leaf spring and stiffer front coils. Is there anything else I might be missing or any problems we might run into? And is there any recommendations on parts to use for the swap? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to mention that my ranger is flex fuel so fuel pump should have enough pressure to work with the v8

Welcome to the forum

Reason people used the Explorer V8 is because the intake is lower so fits under the hood of the Ranger, and Explorer has the shorter front end water pump and accessories

The 2001 Ranger is still analog so all the temp and oil gauges will work

You will need to change the fuel system a bit, but most of the hoses are there

2001 runs 55psi pressure Returnless
1991 runs 30psi Return

This has to do with Fuel Pressure Regulator(FPR) not the pump
The 1991 computer will set Rich codes and engine will flood out on first startup with 55psi

1991 will have FPR on the engine with a Return line back to gas tank, 2001 won't, both have IN line, so you need to run a Return line back to gas tank
2001 will have FPR inside the gas tank, you need to remove this, as it will block new return line

Based on my experience with 1985-1996 EFI F-Series trucks, I'd have serious doubts on whether that tall upper intake plenum would fit under the Ranger's hood. As Ron said, that's why the Explorer is such a popular swap, it was designed to fit into the tighter quarters of an Explorer engine bay.
