Daaamn, if you come across another one PM me haha

Right now i have stock downpipes to the trans crossmember, then two glasspacks. Then i have them both exiting at a 90 degree angle infront of the passenger tire. The glass packs are staggered to make them fit. I personally love the sound, and if i get on it then off real fast the exhaust crackles...I like that haha

Figured out the oil pressure, it was the sensor luckily. Now looking at a tranny/transfer case swap.

I think I have about 4k miles on it.

My friend has a 5 speed 5.0 ranger. If thats the route you want then do it but its a truck trans. Not a nice shifting trans at all

Just read this thread and it has a ton of useful information. I'm getting ready to do this swap myself to my ranger 2.3 5 spd. Planning on using a T5 and a turbo coupe slave bearing with the factory clutch master. I'm going to keep reading and searching around to get more info before I start the swap. Might go ahead and pick up the engine while they are easy to find and cheap. My truck is not 4wd, so I'm not so sure how much will apply. I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to document this and for all the others that chimed in with info. Cool truck you have now!

I think you 2wd guys have to do something different with the motor mounts. I think an adapter plate is needed? other than that its the same swap

No problem, good luck with your swap.

Small update: Now that I work in a garage I have access to a nice exhaust bender. Me and the other mechanic are going to redo my done pipes, all the way back. 2.5 duals into a dual in single out muffler with a 3 inch stock exit tail pipe.

why do you guys recommend a 99-01 explorer? would 2005 explorer work, and if so, what is the difference with them?

An 05 explorer has a 4.6 v8 not a 5.0, the 4.6 is way too wide to fit. They recommend the 99-01 explorer for a 99-00 ranger because everything matches up

OK. I've got a 98 ranger with a 3 inch lift, but no body lift. I plan on using an M5OD-R2 tranny with the t-case from it. Based off of other threads, it sonds like unless i do a body lift, it wont fit nicely. any suggestions?

Should work fine without a body lift. That being said I did one just for the ease of working on the truck. Without one the shifter for the transmission would probably line up better then with a body lift but it's all up to you. If you ever plan to do a body lift do it while swapping the engine, makes it easier to put the new engine in and there are less things to get caught while lifting the body.

yes but you will need custom tuning and some more wiring.
look at this thread:
5.0 Swap MD50R2 and BW4406 - Ford Ranger Forum
You will use a md50r2 out of a v6 f150.

Yes...ish a 2wd transmission (f150) will still bolt to a 5.0.
Let's start here, which front suspension do you have? Coil suspension or torsion bar? If coil you will need aftermarket motor mounts and possibly exhaust. I haven't looked to far into it cause I did a 4wd. If torsion bar suspension then it will be pretty much the same swap as a 4wd just without a transfer case, everything bolts in.
