98 ranger. Trying to install rear speakers
So im trying to install some cheapo Wal-Mart 6x8s in my rear panels, as the truck did not come with any from the factory apparently. After taking off the cover and mounting the speaker I removed the stock speaker wire clip and hard wired the speakers. Speakers are not working. Does the stock stereo not put power to the rear Speakers? I don't understand why they are not working. I have hooked up plenty of speakers in my time and I know they are wired correctly.
Correction: I have only tried the drivers side rear speaker. I will try the passenger side as well, after reading on here of someone else experiencing just the driver side rear speaker loss.
Update: tried both rear speakers and neither work. My assumption is that the factory stereo does not support more than two speakers. It does not have a Fade function at all and that seems to me like further evidence of my theory... If I could get a response from someone that has been here before I would appreciate the help before I just go and buy a new deck and try that out.

Welcome to the forum
Very odd to get a 2 speaker system in a Ranger
Yes, most likely the radio only has outputs for 2 speakers, you would need to pull it out to see
You can add the 2 new speakers to the existing speakers so you can use the stock radio if you want
You add new speaker in Series to existing speaker, safest way
Radio +..................+(new speaker)-................+(old speaker)-...........................................-Radio
Repeat for other side

P.s. I find it very odd that FMC put in rear speaker wires if the stereo doesn't even support them lol. But I guess an upgrade was an option at the dealership.
