Best Ways to Prevent Stereo Theft?
Best Ways to Prevent Stereo Theft?
I just installed a new Kenwood Stereo head unit in my Ranger, and after installing it occurred to me how easy it would be to steal (just remove two radio bezel screws and remove stereo). What are some ways to make the stereo more physically secure in my vehicle? What size are the stock radio bezel screws, and could I replace them with Spanner-head security screws to make it more difficult for thieves?
Honestly, just lock the truck and make sure you keep any other valuables out of sight. if someone wants something bad enough they will take it. Even with the factory screws in there, a thief wouldn't bother with taking the time to remove them, they would just break the bezel
Maintain & take pride in your vehicle, but don't show off expensive items to neighbors & "friends" you really don't know.
Or move to a better neighborhood, where everyone keeps a loaded gun handy & the local DrugAddicts\Thieves know it.

I don’t show off my vehicle, but I do need to leave it in parking lots in bad areas during the day while I’m working, and I’m worried about break-ins during that time. I’d like to find a way to make the stereo more secure in my vehicle.

Maybe high end alarm system, that goes bezerk if someone even touches exterior?
Or QuickReleaseSlideOut mount, that you can easily remove & take stereo in backpack with you into work?

Do people even steal car radios anymore?
I remember it used to be an issue, but haven't really read much about it still being an issue
Yes, just lock the car and hope for the best, alarm system is not out of line either, but a sensible one, not a "go off all the time one"
