Get a kicker L7...They sound very nice...I like my DEI comp 15s...but good luck finding them, mine are 10 yrs old and they still beat harder than people who spend $1000 on their systems.

15's are a waste of time and sound. Unless all you want is deep, low, slow bass. Think about it...the bigger the diameter of the sub, the longer it takes to hit. So if you enjoy any music other then rap, a 15 would sound like ****. Thats my opinion anyway.

Hell, even my 12's have a hard time keeping up with my hard rock and metal

Mine works with all kinds of music and keeps up with the fastest techno. I just turn down the subs when I want to listen to country or something accoustic...bass ***** FTW

Radiohead is probably my favorite non rap music to listen to with the bass up high

That couldnet be farther from the truth with my setup. I constently listen to rock and metal an it sounds GREAT on my 15. My dad who hates rap loves the sound of my sub just as much as my old setup (2 type r 10s).

You've either got a poorly built box, or really cheap subs. The whole "bigger subs are slower" is one of the most frustrating myths in car audio.

My recommendation would be to pick up an SSA Dcon for your price range. It will DESTROY anything within that range. The Xcon would be ideal, but it's a bit out of your price range.

You should also read up on setting your gains properly. That's why you blew your last sub, you were over powering it.

larger subs ARE slower, but not to the point that it's really noticable, smaller subs are good for quick, punchy bass, like rap. rock and metal, stuff that has slow drony bass, the larger the sub the better... i find 10" subs are a perfect balance for someone who likes rock, the punch out of a 10" quite well replicates the punch of a bass drum, and still has enough left over to replicate the bass guitar, now as for volume, this is amplified by multiple drums, or travel distance

just remember, there is no replacement for displacement

Yeah, learn how to set your gains dude. You're overpowering your sub and probably getting clipping pretty bad too.

LOL almost the same thing happened in my altima...except to my amp...The ground loosened and I thought it was blown...Then when I was taking it out I saw it was just the ground...Tightened it back and a week later the amp blew.

Great subs. My friend just bought a HDC3 15". That thing is killer and is going to hit even harder once he gets his box built for it.

You should actually set your gains using a DMM or an o-scope. Every amplifier is different, and there is no "rule-of-thumb" when setting one.

if you buy a new one, go to future shop, get their extended waranty... it's 10% of the purchase price, i got a free wiring kit with mine (worth more than the waranty cost) and the extended waranty ONLY AT FUTURE SHOP will cover the sub if it blows for any reason at all (tempature, over powering, and i think physical damage)
