door speakers

door speakers

Well i was looking at my truck today and i was wondering if i could put speakers in the bottom corner of my door were what looks like a grill for a speaker is already there.

You could, but the main purpose of that grill is to vent moisture out of the door panel. It's not exactly a sealed door by any means, but you could do it for some tweeters or maybe a 3 or 4".

So just ask yourself how do you wanna open up that area, how can you mount a speaker in there, and just how well do you need an upper range speaker pointed at your butt? :)

agreed.... its a cool idea, but the actual functionality a small speaker in that location would provide isnt worth the effort of fabbing up a mount for it. if you really want to add some extra speakers, you could always install em in the lower kick panels... at least that'd be keeping the soundstage in front of ya.

I agree just leave it the way it is, it is a good idea, but its really not worth it.

I never know what that grill was for...until now thanks Mnemonic.
A cool install i always liked and would love to have one day (dream) is two 6.5's mounted on the door in a fiberglass housing.

You could put a set of small horns in there and use them for shows!!
