i have a 10" rockford fosgate p1, powerd by a rockford fosgate rf2002 amp,and my problem is it does not pound hard,like subs should.my friend said it could be the size of the box is this true? or what else could be wrong? i dont know crap about systems, thanks for the help.

 

could be the size box, each sub has a certian requirment for the amount of space it needs to meet its spec's to get the full use out of it. Also the amplifier might not be pushing out the correct "rms" for the sub. meaning the sub can handle more power. I have been to competitions with my cousin, and saw a guy with a single 12" Rf sub hitting 142dbs. that was crazy.

 

my box is pretty small.

 

That could be it, ported boxes are better for a louder on going sound and sealed are good for tight sounding bass. I mite want to try to build a box for the spec's of that sub? Me I would get a bigger box that is ported. what size sub is it btw?

 

it is a 10", my friend has the same sub and amp as me but it is a 12" and it sounds so good. and my sounds like ****...lol, and my box is not ported

 

Id try a bigger ported box. Im running 2 12" on a ported bandpass box. But Dont go with band pass. Im in the processes of changing out to 1 15" in a poted box built to specs. bigger ported box. www.rockfordfosgate.com. look up your sub and see what the box demensions specs are fot that sub. should be there.

one more question, should i get a ported or not ported box,i listen to rock and metal music.witch one would sound better?

 

they say sealed with that kind of music, me I listen to everything but im a ported fan
