No back speakers

Well today when I was installing my new kicker 6x8's I found out that I have no back speakers so what would be the best way to try to install them??

Well XL's dont even have the cutouts in the plastic panels do they? if they dont you need XLT panels. I think they are wired for speakers, they just aren't there.

Yeh they have the cutouts but when you take the screen off, there is just a big open spot. There are some wires running thru there but i dunno if its the speaker wires.

Hmm take a pic of the wires im sure someone will chime in. Knowing Ford you have the wiring for the rear speakers, you just dont have the rear speakers lol.

did you buy the truck used? if so i bet someone had after market speakers in there before they sold it and got rid of the stock ones. and had nothing to replace them with.
should be 2 wires coming out of the panel.

since you got the XL you wont have rears, which is really stupid, how much do crappy factory 6x8's cost Ford anyway?

So the 07's came from the factory with no rear speakers? Can anyone else verify this? If that's the case, Ford is really getting cheap.

My '08 XL has the rear speaker covers, but no speakers (or mounting bracket or anything) behind them. There is a wiring harness running along the back of the cab, but I don't see any obvious speaker wires.

I wasn't surprised it didn't have speakers, but I was shocked to discover there was no wiring. Seems like it would cost them more to use a different wiring harness......

Obviously in my 07 Tremor it has rear speakers but in my old work Ranger (04' 3L extended cab), it did not have any rear speakers. It didnt even have the wiring back there. It just had the cutouts and the covers. I installed some back there and just ran a wire from the head unit rear outputs under the flooring and up into the side panels and wired them in. It wasnt really that hard and honestly, I didnt mind it cause I was able to use the wire I wanted to use.

Its not to hard just go get some speaker wire run it to the back under the threshold by the door and into the opening where the speaker is wire it up and enjoy. Very easy. Btw nice truck!

I have my fade turned all the way to the front, I don't like the way my truck sounds with my back speakers on....

Maybe that's just me, but I do have a 12" sub in the back so It kinda drowns out those speakers anyway.

I am prolly gonna be replacing just the front ones for now - maybe even remove the back.

Good luck with your install, just wanted to point out that in my opinion the rears aren't that important.
