Radio dash kit keeps falling out!!!

So of course I have an aftermarket head unit installed, and It is in the dash kit that most people have, with the small compartment that you can fit a cell phone in. You know the one Im talking about. Well at first it was ok, then started popping out every 5 seconds while off roading. Now it comes out on the highway on a bump, or on bumpy backroads. WTF!!! theres got to be a way tosecure these things besides the little plastic nubs that hold it in.
Anyone?

You must not have installed it correctly then.

On mine I had these little tabs that weren't snapped all the way in, I had to use a flat head screwdriver and sort of pull the tabs until the locked in place. You'll be able to see them if you flip it over and look at the back.

I install car audio as a side job and I have worked with a crapload of dash kits, the majority of them are simple plastic tabs that snap in and hold the mount in place. Im not saying your wrong, maybe it did install it incorrectly but I dont see how I could have. I have tried even flipping it upside down and still falls out. The tabs on the kit I got are so small, maybe I just got a crappy kit, it was one of the ones that comes for free from crutchfield. It stays in place and you can put pressure on it and wiggle it and it wont come out, but when I it a good bump (especially off roading) it pops right out

Do you know what brand kit you got? I used a Metra and never had a problem with it. I even jumped the front of my truck and it stayed in place.

Maybe some of my tabs are broken. I have this stuff that I use at work called vapor wrap, I use it on external antennas that I mount on buildings to seal the connector to the antenna and prevent water from getting in. It is almost like instant tar, I was thinking about using some of that, but maybe Ill just order a new dash kit lol

The kit Crutchfield sent me is better than the SOSCHE kit I bought from walmart. Hence why I swapped the dash kit out with the old Eclipse unit. It will pop out by hand if you know the trick (with out removing the unit first) but it has never just came out on or off road.

i just installed my first aftermarket head unit and i almost did the same mistake i think you might have done. did you push the whole dash kit in ALL the way until all of the clips click? i didnt push it in far enough and the whole thing kept sliding up and down. push it in all the way and if they click then you should be fine.
