Door Lock Cylinder...

Hey guys..

About 3 weeks ago some jackass decided he was going to rip off our apartment complex and broke into 10 cars. One of them being my Ranger. He jammed something in the lock and popped it, completely ruined the lock and left a big dent in my door.

My insurance company tried to screw me over big time quoting me $700 to "fix" the damages ranging from beating out the dent (that's about 3 inches by 3 inches) and repainting the entire door and replacing the center panel which has a hairline scratch that was there before the guy even broke in. I've heard around here in Houston that I can get it fixed for about $100 but also heard I could get the cylinder at an auto parts store and fix it myself for like $20.

Only problem is, I can't find this cylinder ANYWHERE on any website or in any auto parts store. All I can find for the 2004 4 cyd is an actuator and I don't have power anything, let alone locks..

Does anyone know where I can find a cylinder ? Is there anyone in Houston that can help me out ?

I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted

New lock cyl and new keys you'll need two one for each door unless you want your ignition key to unlock the non broken door and the new key to open the new cylinder and the ill key to start the truck.

I have some cylinders laying around, do you need black or stainless? You could take it to a locksmith and they can key it to match your existing keys I think.
