2.3 and 2.9 input shaft sizes

2.3 and 2.9 input shaft sizes
i have an 85 ranger 2.3 4*2 with a bad m5r1 and i found a toyo kogyo5 in a 89 2.9 are the input shafts the same size or no

the m5r1 is not the original transmission it had a toyo kogyo 5 speed in it that went out and the m5r1 that was swapped was also bad so i have a bell housing that will work on the 2.9 to bolt it to a 2.3
