i have a 91 v6 3.0 5 speed ranger. tranny crapped out on me this past friday. since school desn't leave me time to rebuild it i'm just gonna replace it. i'm just not sure which other year trucks or tranny's will fit. i'd really like to know cuz i can't find a tranny out of a 3.0 to save my life. so if you guys know of any other year tranny's that will fit it'd really help. as always, very much appreciate all the help

 

Are you absolutely sure it's the tranny ?
The slave cylinders are a known weak point in these trucks.
You need to provide more info on the problem you're having.

 

i was driving back home from college to visit my parents. i had just made a 4 hr trip to pick up a set of tires. no problems what so ever, so i decided to take the ranger instead of my s10. the trip back home is 3 hrs one way. no issues on the drive or anything till 20 miles from home, it starts to smoke an lurch. i pull over check things out an it all looks fine, no oil leakin or fluids or anything. clutch pedal had no pressure. had a cigarette than turned the truck back on, idled fine, as soon as i went to let out the clutch (which now had normal pressure) you could hear a metal to metal grindin noise. it goes through all the gears fine in neutral but when i try to drive it, it will move bout a foot an than lock up, same in reverse. replaced the T.O. bearing. got it up on a lift an saw that the drive shaft was what was locking up. pulled the tranny plug an it looked like sparkly paint came out. (much metal shavings) idk what it might be but it's not the diff, or the clutch cuz it'll engage everytime. i think its the tranny, but maybe you guys could help??? THANKS A BUNCH
