4.0 5spd trans

So I’m buying a 96 4.0 truck that’s missing trans for $200 I found a trans but will a 99 4.0 5spd bolt ups and work in a 96 4.0 and will the 96 rangers transfer case work with the 99 trans

Yes, it will work if both are for 4.0l engines and both for 4x4
Its an M5OD-R1(M5R1) transmission, used from 1988 to 2011 in Rangers

Yes,1996 transfer case will bolt to 1999 trans, was the same BW1354 model, but 1999 would have different front drive shaft hook up and no speed sensor, but not an issue since you are using your 1996 transfer case, with speed sensor

The M5OD-R1 uses ATF, yes automatic transmission fluid in a manual trans, lol, NOT gear oil
Also there are 3 rubber plugs on the top back of shifter housing, they dry out and leak, but easy to replace when trans is out

That's a real good buy on a 4.0l 4x4 Ranger
