Change 5pd auto TC lock point

Truck:
2011 Sport 4dr 4.0 SOHC / 5-speed auto 4x4 Axel 3.73 / P255/70R16

Can the torque converter lock point be changed? This one will not lock under any conditions until the speedo hits 50MPH. Most of my local driving is between 40 and 50 MPH and the fuel mileage stinks at 13-15 local.

My previous truck was a 2004 XLT 4dr 4.0 SOHC /5-speed auto 4x2 Rear Axle 3.55 / P225/70R15.
The TC would lock at just a tad under 40MPH on the speedo and it got me 17-19 mpg local driving.

So back to the question: Can the TC lock point be changed to 40 MPH or even lower???

If so how would I go about doing that or getting it done?

TIA!

5R trans will have an internal TFT sensor(trans fluid temp).
It can delay TCC lock if running cold, or "thinks" it is cold

I think you can view temp on an OBD2 reader
Blue tooth OBD2 readers are under $25 and they work on ANY car or truck sold after 1995

Ford Dealer can often change shift points and TCC lock up points, with a software update.
Or you can get computer reprogrammed by someone else, better power and better MPG also transmission shift points and TCC lockup

My OBDII reader is perhaps 7 or 8, maybe 9 years old. I'll plug that in to see what it can tell me.

Good to know the adjustment is possible, I'll take it to a local Ford dealer in the spring.

Thanks!

Update: Called local Ford dealer to inquire about reprogramming the TC lock point.
Answer: Negative, cannot be done. The controller is not field reprogrammable.

The software is designed for adaptive learning to driver style. Mostly what that means is if you are gentle on the fuel pedal the shifts will be smooth but sooner. If you are hard on the fuel pedal the ***** will tend to occur later and be more forceful. But there is no facility to change the torque converter lock point.

Simultaneously I submitted an inquiry directly to Ford. We shall see what the folks in Detroit have to say.

Ford Shops wouldn't be allowed to change parameters if it wasn't a Factory updated change.
The computer is "field programmable" if you have the software to do it.
Any parameter in the computer can be adjusted, that was the point of using a computer in the first place, better MPG, lower emissions and reliability than mechanically adjusted parameters, i.e. distributors and carbs.

Transmissions were no exception, if computer controls it it can be adjusted to your liking.
But changing parameters effects other systems which is why Ford wouldn't want Dealers to just change things *****-nilly, changes are run in simulators until they are deemed OK to use, but as we all know that doesn't mean they won't need updates, lol, when they cause problems in the "real world"

So you can get the gear to make your own changes, or contact someone locally that has the gear and pay them to make the changes.

As I figured. Didn't cost me but a few minutes to ask.
I'll inquire at a couple local tranny shops and see what I get for responses.
