Cheap 4x4 manual conversion???

So I have another thread about fixing my 4x4 system that is giving me trouble. There have been things that I've checked (thanks for the help everyone!) like all of the fuses in the truck, replaced the double relay in the dash and checked the switch. I've also looked up wiring diagrams and run through just about every forum post with any similar issues and have not found a "factory" fix. I have given up on that dream. I'm looking for ways to make it manually operated and that has led me to the shifster idea. I don't mind climbing under my truck to put it into 4wd because a little snow doesn't hurt. The only problem is, I can't find any for sale/resale and don't have the money or patience for a proper kit. Anyone have a good idea to fix my problem?

In short: Im done chasing electrical issues and would like a cheap, simple fix.

If you have manual lock/unlock hubs on the front you can just use a pair of vise grips to move the shift rod to 4H then tie it off there so it can't move
Then lock and unlock the hubs when you need or don't need 4WD

Other method is to use shift motor and manually apply 12v/ground to move it to 4H position and move shift rod to 4H then bolt shift motor back on, it will hold it in 4H

Yes, the shiftster is no longer around
You can post in "Wanted to buy" section of forums and maybe someone has one
