does 4hi work in reverse?

does 4hi work in reverse?

say ur backing up, and decide to switch to 4wd, will it engage, or do u gotta take it out of reverse first?

Yes. The transfer case is after the transmission and will work in whatever you have the transmission set for.

Let's say I have a hundred random questions one day when I wake up.....lol

I dunno on live axles though. I know on my 79 f150, it would go into 4hi and 4lo no problem. I'd have to rock it back and forth sometimes to get it to disengage though.

thats odd cause mine just clicks if im in reverse, i gotta take it out of reverse first then back up

Hmm. Interesting question. I've never tried to engage 4x4 in reverse. I know it works in reverse, but I've always been going forward when it was engaged, then backed up if I had to. I'll have to check that out.
