Driveshaft yolk
Driveshaft yolk
I have an 89 ford ranger, with a brand new transmission, but an old driveshaft yoke. That yoke was in the old transmission when it siezed, they polished and reused it. It was predicted that it would create a leak down the road. Well it has, bad. My question is... Could a yoke from a different year, same model truck( same transmission) fit in mine? Heres why I was told no. My truck has a 7 foot bed and I was told that a yoke from any thing shorter wouldnt fit. Is that true?
And finding a 7 ft bed has been impossible

The Long Bed Rangers has the rear axle 6" farther back so has a longer driveshaft
But not sure it applied to the yoke, the yoke is the interface between transmission and U-joint, so nothing to do with drive shaft tube length
I would think Ford would use the yoke for the transmission you have and then adapt driveshaft length to fit that
But never looked at long bed so can't say for sure
I would call driveline shops, they make custom driveshafts for people that swap around engines/trans and rear axles, they should have better info
