4WD not engaging

2001 Ford Ranger doesn't go into 4WD anymore. When I flip the switch = no light on, no traction. Not sure if this is a repeat post as I'm a new member but would appreciate any feedback or direction. Thanks! This forum is awesome btw

your switch might have gone bad. thats the first thing i would check since its the easiest to replace. do you feel the 4x4 engaging at all though? if not, id check the switch for sure

Check your fuses.

Do the lights flash when you start the truck? Its possible that the 4wd controller went bad.

On mine when I first got it, you could hear a faint click of the transfer case motor trying to engage 4x4. I hit the button a crap load of times and it eventually engaged. The problem stopped after I filled the transfer case up with tranny fluid. I belive I read on here somewhere that there is a way to clean the motor if it's not engaging.
