GREAT....fml

So went to finish putting my locker in my truck today and right when i went to put the pinion shaft in it wouldnt go in so then i decided to "tap" it like the instructions said....it went in pretty easy....well then the other problem popped up and that was that it wasnt lining up with the other side...so i decided to hit it back out and try again...but ofcourse when i turned the diff around so i could hit it out, I ended up hitting it to far and now its stuck between the spider gear at the back of the diff and the actual diff wall...so im screwed and i cant think of anyway to get the pinion shaft back out

take the 4 bolts out and bring the whole carrier out. Just remember those caps need to go in the same way they came out and i think they need torqued to 80 ft/lbs

Wait why was the pinion shaft out? I thought all you do is take out the cross shaft and then remove the spider gears and put the locker in place of them. Are you talking about the pinion shaft or the cross shaft? Or am I just retarded (very likely)?

sometimes you will need to grind the cross pin or the teeth on the ring gear to let it slide in.

or are you talking about the carrier i recommended you pull out? get it started evenly then hit it in with a rubber mallet.

okay well went ahead and bought another pinion shaft and same thing happen...it just wont line up one the other side of the carrier....i hit it with a rubber mallet and it goes through past the spacers in the locker and past the axles fine...but then when i get to the other side of the carrer its about 1/8 of an inch off so i have no idea what to do now... and the ring gear isnt getting in the way at all and i really cant take the carrier out cause that would mean i would have to take the pinion shaft out and thats gonna be a pita and also i cant get the c clips off of the axles because the locker gives you a limited space to work with, i alreadytried what the instructions said about taping the tire in to get the c clip out but that didnt work

What exactly is happening? I don't get it. Maybe take some pictures of what you are talking about.

If you were closer I'd do it for you.

well we are pretty close only about couple hundred miles lol....and i took pics but photobucket is acting stupid and aint letting me up load em...but to explain it the best that i can....pretty much im all done putting the locker in and so i go to put the pinion shaft in and when i do it doesnt slide in easy at all, like you cant push it in by hand you have to hit it with a rubber mallet, so i hit it and it goes it but almost like it goes in in stages like you hit it a couple of times and it'll go in past the spacers and its loose at this point like you could turn it by hand so anyways i go ahead and hit it some more and it slides in a little farther and then once again its loose enough to turn by hand and at this point its about an inch away from the other hole of the carrier and this is where the whole thing goes south...i go ahead and hit it some more and it'll slide in all the way till it hits the side of the carrier and like i said its off by about 1/8 inch

My aussie locker was super tight, I used a big metal hammer to get the cross-pin in.

ya i would disassemble it but i cant get the c clips out but i ended uo just grinding some of the cross pin off and it went in pretty easy so thats out of the way now as for the four bolts to remove the carrier i should torque those at 80 ft lbs right?
