The shift motor only uses 7 wires, there is a Brown Electric Clutch wire that was spliced separately so was not "in" the connector, and on some years they added the Brown wire to the connector so 8 pins were used instead of 7
Since the Brown wire goes to a transfer case connection and is not part of the Shift motor wiring it will not be included in any replacement shift motor, they will all be 7 pin, but will have open hole for 8th wire
You would un-pin the Brown wire from old shift motor connector and install it in the new connector.
The pins have small tabs that can be pushed in using very small screwdriver or similar device and the brown wire can be pulled out with pin attached, then reinserted in to new connector where tabs will lock it in place
If you get one from wrecking yard then just cut the Brown wire between connector and transfer case and use a splice connector to your wire, or re-pin it, your choice
