Icon14 Leaking Hurst Shifter - Problem Solved

I finally got tired of my shifter leaking and decided to call Hurst. I ask the man I was speaking to if they new of this problem in rangers and if they had a revised seal to stop this problem. He responded, yes and he took my info. and said he would send it to me. No questions asked, for FREE!

Here's what it looks like:

I have yet to install it so I will see how it goes. I hope this will help a lot of people with this problem out.

You know, I didnt really have a leaking problem in the cab, it started leaking on the outside when I sold the truck. But I did have a problem with the actual shifter piece that attaches to the shift linkage -it would keep coming loose resulting in a sloppy shifter feeling (worse than stock! LOL). Even red rated loctite wouldnt hold that sucker in.

I just got a "free" Hurst shifter so I might have to give them a call and get one of these.

those are very thin and delicate. i can see how it would work though. mine tore and i went with a homemade gasket setup. it is doing well so i wont mess with it.

Can you provide an Name and number of the guy you talked to? I'd like to get one of these too... My tranny has been leaking due to the hurst shifter.

I installed this seal a week ago and I don't feel that it is going to fix the problem completely, maybe for a while. racsan probably has the right idea making his own.

RRF901 I don't have the guys name I talked to. I just called the hurst tech service line 216-688-8300 Ext.500

RRF901, Since it has been installed it seems to be holding up fine, I will be keeping an I on it. If I have to re-seal it again I am just going to make my own gasket out of gasket paper and use some silicon on it or drill a vent hole in the lower mounting plate.
