M5R1 Tendencies

Okay

just bought my car yesterday and got it dirt cheap cause it needs a tranny

from my understanding of what i've read online

i can pull a 5 speed out of any Ranger from 88-97 2.3 2.9 and 3.0...correct?

what are the tendencies with these transmissions?

do they typically go out around 150,000k miles (that's when mine did)

i beleive mine has bad syncro's (sp) from the collapsed cab mounts (tranny is up against cab lol)

I have the same trans, and just replaced it at 80,000 miles, which I dont think it shouldve gone, but Im the 3rd owner so who knows.

Im assuming yours is a 3.0 or you wouldnt be asking about cross reference. How did the cab mounts collapse is what Id like to know. Lets see some pics.

If you dont have a tranny picked out I recommend Kormex Transmission from EBay. They usually have a few Ranger trannies listed, and they are helpful and inexpensive (even with returning the core)

you will need to get a 5-speed from behind a 2.3 ONLY. and it has to be 2wd or 4wd depending on what your truck is.
