Well I have decided that I will be doing a tranny swap in spring time. Does anyone have any idea what tranny came in the sport trac 4X4 5spd trucks. The expo sports were only available as a manual in 2wd version. Would one from a ranger work possibly? Any ideas?

 

Yeah it should be the M5OD-R1 for the 4.0 SOHC

 

What year trucks did they come in? I managed to find my manual Bw1354, will this all bolt together in an explorer without problems? I'm not sure if the ranger and explorer trannys specs are the same.

 

the M5OD-R1 was installed in the 4.0 OHV....the M50D-R1HD was installed in the 4.0 SOHC's......you were close

you can find them in any 4.0 SOHC Ranger....make sure you get a tranny from a 4wd.....for the manual t-case you will need to make sure you have the 2 holes in the driver side of the tail housing on the tranny for the shifter linkage.....everything will bolt into the Explorer no problem....

now that I have my computer set back up, I will finish my tranny swap how-to and you can follow it..
