Manual Transfercase Question.... 93 the same as 03?
So I have a line on a 13-45M transfercase complete, shifter linkage everything. But it is off of a mid 90's Manual. Being the same 13-54 is it fair to assume its the same as the 13-54 I have in my truck now? (as far as input shaft, output shaft, bolt pattern, ect)
Is this the same T-Case that came on the '02 and '03 trucks?

everything BUT the output shaft is the same.........it is a u-joint adaptor on the the output shaft on '97 and older BW1354 t-cases..........BUT if i were you, i would swap to that shaft and have the diff side of the shaft put on the '97 and older style driveshaft (the '97 driveshaft diff side may match up since the diffs are the same)....much stronger than the joint that is in the '98+ Rangers......

So is the Yolk different or the actual output shaft? Because if the output shaft splines are the same then really I could put whichever yolk I wanted to on it...
I guess in reality that doesn't matter much anyway... You wouldn't happen to know if it uses a 1330 or what size U-Joint is on the t-case side of the '90's 13-54M would ya?

the output flange/yoke is different on the '98+ BW1354......it is a CV style joint verses the '97 and older BW1354 is a u-joint style.......
if you plan on using the '98+ style yoke/flange on an older t-case, you will have to tear the case down to replace it in the older BW1354....
the u-joint style/size i have no clue of.....
i would use the mid '90s driveshaft if it were me and adapt it to fit your diff flange/yoke....

the rear output on all of them should be the same and the input and boltup will be the same, the only thing different with the older ones is the front output. they use a superior style front driveshaft, so I would say use the t-case you have and pick up a front shaft from a 97 or older truck or explorer and just check the length and use that shaft. the double cardan joint in the older shaft is much better than the rezeppa joint at the t-case side of the newer shafts.

This is the side I was more concerned about, the rear output... the front output i can change (I need a new driveshaft anyway mine is close to done)..
As long as the one I can get has the same flange on the rear output I'll be fine (since that is where my VSS is located to now).
So then we are agreed that the input shaft is exactly the same on them all right? (23 spline is it?) and the rear output is flanged and the front output is a U-Joint style not the crappy rubber-impregnated bullcrap the new trucks have.

your stock rear shaft will be a direct bolt on to the older T case, the front shaft you have 2 options, first for a non suspension lifted truck you can use a front shaft out of a 95 or 96 explorer ONLY! this will bolt right to the T case and is far better then the newer style shafts

the slip joint is located away from the exhaust pipe
option 2
if you have a suspension lift you can use a front shaft from a older explorer say 92-94
its about two inches longer then the 95-96 shaft and the slip joint is in a different spot, close to the exhaust pipe, i tryed this but it was just to long.
the 92-94 shaft is on the top, the other is missing some parts and was off a 90'ish mazda navaho
all the 1352 and 1354 BW cases use the same 23 spline input shaft
