Manual Transmission Fluid

Doing a clutch, 1991 4x4 ranger mazda tranny, and will need to refill manual Transmission and transfer case with Mercon atf. I have some multipurpose atf that is Mercon or Decron 3. Is there any problem using a multipurpose atf. I can buy Mercon V but I remember something about not using Mercon V in either the tranny or transfer case?

I don't see a problem

Ford recommends Mercon V, but its a manual trans so not that big of a deal as long as you don't used 80w gear oil, lol.

You can use Mercon V in transfer case but Ford came up with a new "transfer case fluid", XL-12, so up to you
