No lights when i switch to 4wd

so i have a 2007 4l 4wd ranger , just went to put it into 4wd & no lights came on ?
..when the ignition is first turned on all lights present..
..you can here the clicking of the module when you switch to 4wd
..removed shift motor ( brand new 2yrs ago)..turn switch; motor flops around...
..can manually move the shaft on the transfer case..pretty sure i got all the fuses checked.
doesnt appear that the transfer case is changing , the only thing i can think of to try is to jack all 4 wheels ..manually check the transfer case....the motor doesnt appear weak ; almost new & was working fine.
Not sure what else i can check.....could it be the transfer case itself ??
Any help greatly appreciated
tksD

Not sure what "motor flops around" means

With motor disconnected from transfer case and plugged in, when you change dash switch position the motor should move to its pre-assigned position for 2WD, 4H or 4L, and then the dash light will come on, for 4H or 4L that is
There are no sensors inside the transfer case, the lights are activated or deactivated by the position contact wheel inside the shift motor
So if the shift motor turned to the 4H location 4H light should come on even if its disconnected from transfer case

If you hear the relay inside the 4x4CM(behind radio in 2007) "click" when you move the dash switch then switch and 4x4CM are working
If you hear multiple "clicks" then shift motor is not moving or not able to move shift rod in transfer case, this could be a stripped gear inside shift motor if shift rod can be moved manually to 2WD, 4H and 4L

Good read here on whats inside the shift motor: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...e-shift-motor/

tks..what i meant by flopping around was i could hear the motor moving on the floor , didn't have any one to do the switch while i held the motor .light on dash still didnt come on ...i'll test the strength of the motor using a screwdriver to see if there something there.

If you had switch in 2WD and moved to 4high and the 4high light didn't come on then the motor wasn't moving the contact wheel to 4high position
Motor itself could have turned its worm gear but wasn't turning the contact wheel gear

This picture is the shift rod in transfer case, pointed at 2WD: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...02-jpg.327410/

With shift motor off and key on, when you select 2WD the shift motor's fitting for shift rod should be lined up in 2WD position, same for 4H and 4L when you change the dash switch
