No reverse HELP!!
I’ve got a 92 stx 4.0 auto 4x4. All the forward gears work, but reverse doesn’t. Reverse the motor pulls down but doesn’t move. I put it in neutral and it won’t roll either. I swapped the transfercase out and it still does it. I’m assuming the transmission is bad. Can anyone tell me what transmissions will work in this truck This is a toy, so I’d even swap it to 2wd, as the class I race only allows 2wd
Thanks in advance !!

Welcome to the forum
Its an A4LD automatic transmission with 2 solenoids
1990 to 1994, from a 4.0l
Need a 4x4 model OR a 2wd model and 2WD drive shaft, to match wheel base, i.e. regular cab or extended cab
Loss of Reverse is usually a low pressure issue in Automatics, common when older, not a Ford thing, just the way all automatics work
100psi is needed for Drive
150psi is needed for Reverse
Can just be leaking valve body but............can be many other things as well

Ive just never experienced an AOD to act as if it has 3 parks before so I assumed it was a transfercase. I would of thought if the valve body was leaking by, it would just slip. This acts as if it’s in gear, but you’re holding the brakes. Neutral is the same. Thanks for your input !
