does anyone make a stronger cv shaft for the 06+ fx4

He used something like that, but AFAIK they will only work with the extended width of the DBR kit.

you couldn't just cut a few inches off one end of the shaft?

You could try, but then you'd probably end up with a shaft thats weaker than your original one. lol. You'd have to ask Jason what he did exactly. I don't know how custom his setup is.

Also I'm not sure if Jason's shafts are stronger than stock or if they just allow for a higher angle without binding.
