ranger 4,0l 2 wd transmission problem
Hi everybody
Concerns my ranger 2011 4.0l 2wd transmission , when driving about 10miles when engine /transmission is hot od/off light goes on and engine kept revving but no speed change.
When cold will change speed without any problem .
Had mechanic change the transmission fluid and filter change a time ago since then only 10k miles.with new fluid.
Did check the oil level and it was above the crosshatched area and I think this cause problem in the transmission valve body.
Also I have another problem the antslip slip and abs light is on but brakes works good.
Can you advise ne about what to do.
The car has only 28k miles on it.
Awaiting your replies
Regards
Bob

Welcome to the forum
If OD light comes that means the Computer has set Transmission trouble code(s) in memory, so you need to get those read, not all trouble code readers can "see" the P07xx codes
So best to get the code(s) FIRST, and not just guess, there are about 95 basic transmission codes, so hard to guess
A transmission shop can read the code but may charge you to do it
Most autoparts stores will read codes for free, but check because they may not do it at all now because of Covid-19
Same for ABS and traction lights, need to get the codes, they will be Cxxxx codes
Most common reason for both lights is that one of the 4 wheel sensors is bad, so guessing would be silly, lol, a code would tell you which wheel has the bad sensor if that's what it is
You can look at the sensor wires at each wheel
Also check Brake Fluid level in the Master, although you should also have a "brake" light on, red one
ABS light won't effect regular braking just emergency stops, you could have a wheel lock up
