rebuilt 4r55e, slipping in 3rd
Well just got to take the Ranger out for a test drive with the rebuilt transmission. The guy that rebuilt it (who worked for Ford for years as a transmission guy) stated that the primary drum was burned up and the secondary was about about toast. Also the band clamp stud for intermediate was broken.
Took it for a test drive and it slips going into 3rd. Its not a firm shift at all. About a 1 to 2 second delay.
It had a full rebuild kit, clutch packs, new drum, seals, etc. A refubished valve body was installed. I cleaned out the trans lines and radiator cooler before install.
What could be the issue? Ive used Valvoline Maxlife syn fluid. About to dump in some LubeGuard red and see...

Sorry, i checked for codes with Forscan and none presented. I monitored the VSS sensor which seems to be fairly accurate (tires are about 1 inch larger in diameter). At about 30 MPH on the dash its about 33 on VSS. This is a 96 Ranger with VSS on transmission tail housing.
TPS is good with voltage ranging between 1 volt and 4.5 with throttle mashed.

The truck is still over at the transmission rebuilder's shop and not ready yet. I bet this transmission is giving him fits!
He intially thought that the valve body i purchased was a defective cause the brand normally has a 10% failure rate. Almost sounded like some companies dont properly test the solenoids......SIGH
