So my transfer case.....

decides to take a crap on me, as most of you know last weekend (sunday) was the windsor meet. So i got a bunch of friends from some canadian based sites and were gonna head down to the meet. Well unfourtunatly on my way there before I met them, i was driving on the 401 towards London to meet them. Well just outside of London the rpms just started climbing and the truck started slowing down....while still in gear, I thought the input shaft broke and then thought to my slef I am fuc*ed. london is about 1.5 hours away from me and thats 120 km/h. Just imagine what one would be thinking at that moment. So i managed to pull over with the remaining speed i had killed the truck. Thats when i thought i would start playing with my 4wd buttons. Hit it in four lowand my truck started driving! it was a start and I felt A LOT better. Anyways r i talked to the guys i work with and sounds like the plastic fork that the slides the coupler over the input shaft and output shaft is busted, cuz i would drive in 4 lo and let off the gas and instead of riding the rpms they just dropped, the coupler came off, then i would shift into 2wd and drive away normally but then under stress or if let off the gas randomly it will slip out in gear and just slow down so then i have to shift into 4 lo again in order to drive.......effin weird is all i have to say. But atleast I know the transfer case is whats screwed up but not entirely, so im gonna try to find another one to take the busted ones place, and then rebuild the first to make a lot stronger than stock, so making some parts bigger or of stronger material, what ever it takes to make it stronger but with in reason. By the way i explained it what do you guys think could be wrong?? sorry for the long post but i had to explain it so everyone knows whats going on.

i like this shot.

thats where the oil feed tube was disconnected.

the aluminum fork that broke.

you can see where it sheared away.

thats where those bolts were supposed to be in but sheared the holes.

a chunk of something thats not supposed to be in the case.

there was supposed to be ball bearings in there. this is also the planetary set.

just before i took it apart.

oh you bet ur truck i will!! lol im gettin both those forks machined out of a chunk of forged aluminum or steel, which is ever is cheaper, but if its not much then im going aluminum cuz its lightweight. problem with the stock one is that its a cast piece and its super thin.

Man that sucks bro, 2 bad you didn't make it to the meet. I think some of the people that did make it got a picture of you truck on the side of the road as they passed by. Atleast you should have it running again soon, just sucks not having your truck

no that 1356 WILL NOT work on your truck, the 1356 is the case from a fullsize and completely different than a 1350 or 1354 case.

update!! i ended calling a few wreckers and found one for the right price. i ended up gettin another 13-54 BW electric shift case for 150 bucks so i drained anything and everything that was in there and put some new atf tranny fluid in there, bolted her up and my truck is alive again!!! :D but since im into the whole drivtrain thing now im gonna do a tranny flush on mine and top it up with some new fluid cuz god knows when it was last done, and the last thing i need is the tranny to go on me.
