Hey guys and gals,

I'm driving an auto 4x4 2001 Ranger 4.0. I have a regular problem with hard shifts (usually 1-2) that kick you in the butt, sloppy long shifts, and even a chatter/bucking when auto shifting down from 2-1 when hard on the throttle (obviously goes away when throttle off). Tranny has been serviced.

First off, what's broken/not functioning correctly? I've been thinking about buying a used 4x4 auto tranny from a wrecking yard in my area and swapping it out. What is a competitive price (Craigslist, wrecking yard with warranty)?
