I am going to try to get a set of Explorer mirrors and see if it can be swapped. I want factory style puddle lights!

I haven’t put them on the Ranger Bases yet but it does look like it will work.
Not every Ex has the lights in the low-side of the mirror.

Good Hunting,

Went to a salvage yard today and I could not get any mirrors. He would not sell them separate from the doors. I will keep looking.

Help Please.

I just picked up a set of explorer mirrors with the lamps on the bottom of the housing, They came from a 1998. I ASSUMED that they would fit on the 97 Ranger that I have..I wanted to convert it to sport mirrors and get away from the manual flags. Do I still need the powered Ranger mirror base to make this work? I was only going to use the explorer mirrors with no power and move the glass where I wanted it by hand. The lights, I figured I would use as side turn signals and install an amber bulb in them...

they don't have to be the power base, but need to be from the non flag version.

Are we talking the Door Mounting portion as the Base ?

If so, how would you mount the mirror without the Base ?

I picked up a set of doors from a low milage 2003, full power, and want to put all of the electrics in my 03 doors. From what I have seem and read, if you can get power to the controls then everything should work.
I would believe power and a control switch compatible to the mirrors would be all that is needed.

drppdy, the mirrors will come off the base with a little persuation from a small flat blade screwdriver. If you take the assembly and make sure the mirror is in the normal position. It pulls apart, but if the wires are still routed through the mounting , it would be tough to remove it completely. Now all I need is a set of sport mirrors from a Ranger , pop my expy mirrors on, and wire in my turnsignals to the bottom of the puddle lights. It would only take a replacement amber bulb to make this work. Now where to find some ranger stocks for sport mirrors....Kevin
