Front and rear diff fluids

So I've drove my 2007 f150 and need to change the diff fluids. I called local dealer and they said it'll be around 400 bc they use some expensive synthetic oil so I think imma do it myself. Has anyone done this and if so how hard was it? What oil do I need to get and all that good stuff

Rear fluid is 75w-140, rear takes 2.5-2.75 quarts so go ahead and buy 3. Not sure on the front diff though.

It should. If I remember right the owners manual says the rear fluid is 75w-90 though, its really supposed to be 75w-140 according to everything I've read.

I just did mine, it was around $140 for front/rear diff and transfer case. It says in the owners manual how much and what type. To remove the front diff cover is alittle tricky, its tight up there but it can be removed.

Oh ok thanks. What size is our rear end? There's three diff sizes it lists and they take the same fluid but diff amounts

My manual says 85w90 for front and 75w140 for rear. Maybe they updated my manual since it's a year newer?

front diff is very tricky. legit no room on the top and top sides. The rear is suppose to be 75w140 with a modifier if it a L/S.

Ya I just used two extensions, to get on the other side of the cross member, then one I used a ratcheting wrench on, then theres this bracket on the cross member thats held on with two bolts I removed so the cover would come out easier.

As for the modifier, should be able to get friction modifier at just about any auto parts store, it helps prevent chatter in the ls.

Oh ok. We got it figured out. First time always takes the longest. I just used ultra black rtv as a gasket since that's what was on it when I took it off. The rear diff was milky and the t case wasnt too bad but the front looked like a damn cappuccino it was so milky.

So my next dilemma is this. I thot this was the cause but it's not and the fluids needed changing anyways. But remember the problem I was having with my ranger a couple years ago with the clicking and popping when turning? Well it's back with the f150 and we never figured it put with the ranger.
