The New Ford Maverick
The New Ford Maverick
Just happened to see the new Ford Maverick advertised online. It looks interesting. I'm thinking it might be the true successor to the Ranger. Ford made the Courier and then the Ranger as small, inexpensive utility vehicles. The current Ranger is a mid-sized truck, and not inexpensive. The new Maverick is small and starts at $20K, not any more, considering inflation, than the starting price of my 94 Ranger. Most new vehicles do not impress me, but this new Maverick has caught my eye.
Thoughts?

Been talked about it at length...
Has potential for those looking for a small light duty hauler...someone who just needs a small bed for around the house/garden hauling.
4 doors nice for small family or hauling pooch family members. Small enough to fit in any garage, and even loaded out still way under what a Ranger goes for.
If it came in a 2 door version, I would have serious thoughts about getting one, but alas, only a 4 door, which I have no need or use for.
Put the 250 hp Eco engine in a 2 door version, lengthen bed to 6 foot, and you'd have a little pocket rocket pickup that would be useful to boot.

I'm super excited to see that they are offering a hybrid model! It's the first vehicle I've come across that I am actually excited for and could possibly afford brand new. I'm hoping we get some of the hybrids down here in Texas soon. :D
Our Daughter has her eye on one once they make it to Canada, west coast, Dealers are hopeful, lol
She wants to drive one first
FWD Hybrid with a bed, good idea Ford, and very good price
Not enough miles under the belt of the CVT transmissions yet but maybe it will be better than previous automatics which I was never a fan of either, lol, I drive manuals, period
I like the idea of all electric but not yet, 2021
To me a Hybrid(no plug in) makes the most sense now
Gasoline or Diesel is still easy to get pretty much anywhere, but it won't be getting cheaper, lol
And getting 40MPG on short drives around town using gas/electric is 95% of most peoples driving
But with a Hybrid you can still do the mega mile road trips or 100-200mile back road trips without worrying about the next charging station location
