02 Arm Rest Hinge

I have an 02 Ranger XLT with the 40-20-40 seat. The console and armrest are fixed. Only each seat moves. Is the armrest hinge 3L5Z 10047A20 AAB the same for the 40-20-40 and the 60-40 seat where the armrest and console move with the drivers seat the same? I can't even seem to find a parts diagram anywhere of either one.

No, 60/40 consoles are much smaller and don't share any parts with the floor mounted 40-20-40 console.

I'm trying to find at least the the part number for the hinge on the 40-20-40 seat. Even the local Ford dealer couldn't help. I see hinges on ebay but no distinction on what they are for. I also have an 11 Ranger with the 60-40 seat and as far as I can tell they are totally different.

Probably not worth going with the factory one since they're so prone to cracking. Dorman makes a metal version that won't crack and fall. You can see it in the Ebay listings below.

If you absolutely have to have the original one, there's some listings for those as well.

Is that for the 40-20-40 or the 60-40 seat. I can't find anywhere that it defines between the 2 or if they are the same. I even tried Maxda.

It's 100% for the 40-20-40. It's very hard to mistake either console for the other. They used the same basic console from the late 80s to 2011.

This lid fits this console:

Most are listed 04 to 11. Would the 02 take the same one? It gets confusing because the year applications are all over the place. Is 3L5Z 10047A20 AAB correct even though it's listed as 04 to 11

Yes, the reason it's listed as 2004-2011 is because the consoles went from gray to black in 2003 or so. That's literally the only difference. The consoles themselves are literally the same from 1998-2011, and the main body of the console has been around since the early 90s, although the early armrests were cloth and the cupholders were a little different.

If your 2002 has the gray console, that's harder to find and I don't know if you'll be able to find a brand new armrest in that color. In that case, you would be better off buying the metal hinge from Dorman (to repair your existing console armrest), and if your armrest is also in poor shape, find a used one in better shape (and put the metal hinge on) or just buy the brand new black one and have a two-tone console.

Thank you Fordzilla80. Now I am confident enough to get a new hinge.
