That vent is just that, a moisture and air vent to relieve build up in the door. The square hole in the door matches up with a grill in the door panel. Don't use it as a speaker hole.
Door speakers, if any, would have been positioned in the lower front of the door / door panel.
Also, there should be a sheet of thin plastic material covering the door access holes and door underneath the door panel. May be black or opaque. If you have to remove it for any reason make sure you replace it....its a moisture barrier.
If your careful you can usually remove it in one piece...held on by a bead of caulk or adhesive. If you need to replace it, material is available in bulk sheets and you cut your own.
I went to Crutchfields web site....lots or vehicle specific info. Apparently 84 Rangers did not have or have available front door speakers...there is no mounting hole in the door for them. Speakers were located in the upper dash.
Their web site states for door installation, holes must be cut into the steel door panels.
They do offer kick panels with speakers to replace the lower front kick panels, but expensive....$200 bucks.
Yes, you would need a "feedback carb", it was Motorcraft 2150A, the "A" meant it was feedback type
It also used a TFI distributor with computer
Look at current distributor, there should be NO Vacuum advance unit on its side, just a 6 wire connector on TFI Module
When carb was changed the distributor was usually changed to a Duraspark system with vacuum advance, so computer could be eliminated
I am restoring this 84 I bought and parts of the engine are missing!
I can’t find them for purchase anywhere and the junk yards near me are dead for this model right now
any ideas?
the air assembly that’s on top of the carb has this big long squarish hose that goes to front of truck
i cannot find this part anywhere
nor the interior trim of the vehicle
the plastic and metal trim pieces that go around door and behind seat etc
the panel that sits on top of glove box
small pieve
and there’s a random canister in this truck to left of engine that is literally not hooked up to anything!
main objective is finding this air cleaner assembly hose vent thing
but if I can’t, what are my options? Can I upgrade it somehow? How can I find out what fits this truck like that? I do not wanna replace the carb just to get an assembly that fits but I’m sure there’s some way around this?
