Google: Ford SkyRanger
I think there were only 17 made in 1991, all were 4WD I think
Found article here: https://therangerstation.com/Magazin...kyranger.shtml
These were the only "factory" convertibles, and no they were not V8s
Ford did sell Ranger GT models in mid/late 1980's, 2.9l V6 with anti-roll suspension and limited slip rear axle, only came in red, white, or blue paint colors, no green, chrome was painted as well, some years had ground effect trims
Still no V8
Ford did build 2 prototype Rangers with V8s, for auto shows, to see reaction for future sales, but one caught fire, engine bay, which put a hold on that direction and they never returned to it
The Ford Explorer did get a V8 option in 1996, but Rangers never did
But that doesn't mean a Custom shop didn't build what you saw and Dealer was showcasing and selling them to attract buyers for other Rangers or Fords in general
Roush does alot of custom Ford modifications, very very nice stuff, but they started in 1995
