2000 2.5 cranking but won’t start
2000 2.5 cranking but won’t start
The other day I was driving and hit a bump and my truck died. Checked the fuel pressure and wasn’t getting any. Changed fuel pump and still won’t start. Changed crank shaft sensor because when it cracks the rpm’s don’t move and it still doesn’t start. Has fuel and spark and air. When check engine light goes off when cranking the engine, I thought I read somewhere that that could be a computer problem. Any help would be great this is my daily truck and would really like to have it back out on the road
Welcome to the forum
Spray fuel into the intake, 50/50 test
Crank engine
If it starts and then dies you have a fuel issue
If it doesn't start then you have a spark or compression issue
50/50
There no other way to check for fuel and spark on this engine, just FYI, or pretty much any engine after 1986 models
Fuel pressure means nothing and spark on a tester means less
If it doesn't start then on the 2.3l or 2.5l Lima engine it could be a broken timing belt
Try to see if cam gear is turning when you crank the engine, if not......................thats the issue

Its just wrench work, only hard part can be getting the crank pulley off, and thats hit and miss, sometimes it just slides off and sometimes it doesn't
There are a few videos and many How-to's for these engines
The 1995 - 2001 2.3l and 2.5l SOHC engines are exactly the same as far as changing the timing belt
These engines are non-interference, so valves can NOT hit pistons when belt breaks
