Hey folks, the 2010 and 2011 extended and super cab Rangers came equipped for the first time with side airbags on the backrest of the driver and passenger seats. Using all data at my local library, I was able to download instructions for the removal of the seats from the tracks mounted to the frame to complete disassembly of the bottom and top of both seats. Although they refer to the side airbag they don’t give specific instructions for any sequencing of removal of the airbag to replace the foam and seat cover with new OEM’s, which I was able to get online a few years ago and just haven’t got around to installing.Has anyone done this? I’m wondering if disconnecting the battery prior and then reconnecting battery after completion would be enough to prevent codes for airbag after refurbishing the seat with all new foams and covers?

 

I've removed many steering wheels with airbag by disconnecting the battery and never had one go off.
