94 ranger timing problems
94 ranger timing problems
I have a 94 b2300 2.3. I just got done tearing apart the motor to replace broken compression rings. Got stuck on the timing. Ive looked every where for the info i need. I know the timing marks are suppose to be on the timing cover but i do not see any. I even removed the cover just to make sure it was overlooked. It does not have a mark for the cam or oil pump sprocket. Is there any other way to set the timing? Ive found numerous diagrams but my cam does not have a "traingle" mark. Also the oil pump sprocket doesnt have the diamond in the diagram. Is my motor different some how?
Yes, you can use the Key ways on the Cam and AUX, also the crank
First you have to Picture the engine sitting straight up and down, as it sits in the truck it is at an angle to the left(looking at the front of engine).
Remove bolt holding Cam gear and AUX gear so you can see the key ways
Cam and AUX key ways should point at 6:00, straight down
Crank should point at 12:00, straight up
You can mark the cam and AUX gears then re-install the bolts, for future use
