Hey guys I have a 99 ranger 4.0 v6, 4wheel drive that seems to have a problem of the ac compressor will kick on and off consistently even while having the heat fully cranked. When parked i can hear and see it kick on and off. In it doing so it has my idle revving high when the compressor kicks on and lower when the compressor kicks off. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue? Also when i turn heat and ac off, the compressor doesn't turn on and off. any sugestions?

 

That's normal operation, not an anomaly. It allows you to adjust the cab temp from full heat to cool by mixing heated air with cool air. It also
dehumidifies the air to keep the windshield clear of fogging.

AC compressor is on when heat or AC is on, it is used to dry the air(dehumidify) in the cab
