And no Flashing THEFT LIGHT, correct?
The 2000 should have a larger positive battery cable that runs directly to the starter motor
On the starter motor is a smaller terminal to activate the starter, in the engine fuse box is a Starter Relay, when key is turned to START this relay closes and sends the smaller terminal 12volts and starter should activate
Fuse 24 in the CAB fuse box sends the 12volts to the relay to activate it, check this fuse
Make sure trans is in Neutral(manual) or in Park(automatic)
Use a jumper wire from larger cable on starter to smaller terminal on starter, starter should activate, if not then you got a bad "new" starter, it happens, "new" just means NEVER EVER TESTED, not "it works"
Have someone turn the key to START while you have your finger on the Starter Relay, that's most likely the "click" you hear but just to be sure
Go here to get your Owners Manual: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
It will tell you where all the fuses and relays are located in the fuse boxes
