Hard shifting into second

I have a 2010 ranger 4x4 with a five speed tranny. I have trouble getting into first and second gear. It seems to get worse in the cold.Sometimes at a light I will have to put it into second gear before it will go into first. It is like it uses second gear to line up first . Any ideas as to the cause? Fluid is good in the clutch, and the pedal feels firm. I am going to the dealer for an oil change this week so I will have them look at it .I just want to arm myself with some knowledge beforehand.

Thanks.
Tinker .

Have the clutch system bled. It must have air in it yet.

I have found that sometimes if you try to force it quickly into first gear it will resist. I have learned to take my time and ease it into first and it usually goes right into gear. Occasionally, I will get a quick green light and try to quickly put it in gear and it does not want to go. I make sure it is in neutral, let out on the clutch and push back in again and ease it into gear. It works.

I can't explain why it does this, I just have learned to live with it. Maybe the syncros like to slowly line up the gears.

My 89 is real easy getting into 1st, but we've noticed the same thing you're explaining with the several rangers we've had.

My focus has always done, and still does this. It was discussed to death in the focus forums when I was still on there. It's been identified to be the grease in the shifter to get too thick in cold weather, making it difficult to shift.
Pretty normal stuff

EDIT: I went back to the focus forums, and found some extra information, copy-paste is as follows:

"So for all you out there with the MTX-75 who are experiencing shifting problems. Problems such as getting the car into 1st at a stop and reverse and just hard shift engagement overall.

Ford just recently released I believe the 3rd revision of the pressure plate for our clutch systems. I just got mine put in with a brand new flywheel (as they cannot be turned) and slave cylinder (why not its right there) and the car shifting is like a hot knife through butter now. No matter hot or cold, moving or not it goes in so easy. And I found that the friction point was also much improved although that could be just because the pressure plate's and flywheels friction surfaces were both totally hosed."

This is post was from 2008 though (dang, I haven't been on that forum in a long time)
