Electrical help needed - cornering lights
I'm trying to add cornering lights to my 2004 FX4 Ranger. I need a constant on when the turn signal is activated for each side. I checked at the stalk and also at the flasher but no luck in either location. Where would I find a 12v source only when the turn signal is activated?
No, there is no full time 12v when a turn signal is on
You would need two 12volt adjustable timer delay relays, one for each side
loads of brands and types out there, common use are on building doors with electric door latches, person inside presses a button once, and timer relay activates and releases the door lock for 5 to 20seconds
Relay will need key on or full time FUSED power, this will power the added light as well
There will be a "trigger" connection on the relay, this will be connected to the front turn signal bulbs 12v wire on that side
When that turn wire has 12v the relay will close and stay closed until timer expires, so you need to adjust timer to match 12v pulse or every other pulse
When turn signal is off light will go off once timer expires

The YYC-2S looks a little like over kill for this application, also more prone to problems because of more parts, number of parts X 1 = expected problems, lol
Something like this would work: https://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/bu509td.html
Use standard 12v relay base

Both relays have electronics in them. The fact the YYC can do more doesn't make it more prone to failure... it can do more due to it's ability to be programmed. A chip is a chip is a chip. Besides, the timing is electronic and accurate... not set by spinning a variable resistor and hoping you stop it just at the right spot needed. You don't need the cornering light to stay on 15 seconds after the turn signal is off.
