Engine Struggles and misfires

Hey all, been a while since I posted but wanted to give an update on all my fuel and misfire problems I’ve had over the last few years.

So I went on a road trip over the weekend and The truck (1998 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5L) was struggling real bad, like I couldn’t climb hills or anything, major horse power loss all the way down the board. So I turned around and went back home and barely made it there. So I switched our vehicles and my dad took a look at it and tested the coil packs and sure enough one coil pack had failed. I’m going back home tomorrow to pick it up from him since he got it fixed and said it runs a lot smoother, and the video he sent me sounded like it was running really smooth like never before. So my symptoms: Poor Fuel Economy, Misfires, engine ticking noises, idle surges and drops, and most recent, near total loss of horsepower. I’m sure there is more than that but that’s what I can remember. So if these are your symptoms I would check your coil packs.

The 2.5L has 2 coil packs, just a note.
