Front Brakes locked up?
Front Brakes locked up?
I have no idea what is wrong with my truck and need some help.
I went to the fitness center an when i got there the front of my truck smelt burnt, when i went to leave later---
My front tires are locked?
When I try to drive the back tires spin on the ice and the front tires do not want to spin. I can go in reverse but I feels like the front tires really dont want to go. I put my truck in N to see if it would roll (on a hill) and it wont move
a day earlier my truck slid down the icy drive way with the E brake on, into the middle of the road in the middle of the night?
If I were to put it in 4 hi I can get it to move, but it like it being forced to go.
Any help on what it could be would be great or how to unlock the brakes if that is what it is
Thanks

Open a bleeder on one front caliper.
Try moving the truck a little ,AND DON'T touch the brake pedal.
If it seems to move like it should , the problem is most likely the master cylinder.
Don't forget to retighten the bleeder.

yea im not doing it with the road iced over.
do you all just think the brakes are locked and not something else, those break go 20k or less on them
If I could dump this ranger i would in a heart beat what a constant problem

How far of drive is it to get the truck home? If you think its the front brakes you could try to loosen the bleeder screws on the front and see if the truck will move. You could drive it home like this but you'd only have rear brakes, so you'd want to be careful.
Its sitting on the other side of town, i left it hahaha
the truck can go in reverse, (sort of) would the front differential allow for the truck to go in reverse but not forward---- or not roll in (N)---or smell burnt after driving it ??
I feel if i really gave it some gas or put it in 4 hi it would go and drag the breaks, but i really dont want to push it to hard

update, got it to the shop towed, the tow guy got it to move but the front did not really want to move and now the rear tire is locked which was not before
if its the E brake will if go in reverse easier than forward???

Well if the fronts are locked too, its not the E-brake. It could be moving easier in reverse because reverse is usually geared lower.
Fords are noted for the brakes locking up, usually if they sit for a while but until you take the thing apart you will not know.
Get it in a garage, borrowed or paid for, and take a look at it, tow it if necessary.
Might be water has gotten in and froze things up.
luck,
