the ls1 does not have a distributor...its a independant coil system...1 coil for 1 cylinder

and a 351 will fit, got a guy at the strip i run at that has one in a 93 ranger...daily driven..all u need is a 4 inch cowl hood and a good rear end

Take the 351W and bore and stroke it to 427/429. Trust me its been done. Then its a small block cobrajet!!!!

Chevy motors are impressive and cheap and parts are easy to find. Thats why alot of people choose them.

why would you drop a chevy block into a ford, thats like finding the easy way out. you learn so much more from building up a good 5.0.... just make sure u dont put over 550 hp into them, i have seen them break in half

lighten up a little bit......so what if it is a show truck.....NOT everyone builds their truck to beat the **** out of off road.....besides, let me introduce you to a new concept, "its their money, they will do what they want with it"......

The more I look into a LS1 swap, the better a LT1 swap looks. Used LS1's are just to much money. The LT1 is 100 pounds heavyer then the LS1 and are ALOT cheaper. a Camaro LT1 makes 285 hp and 330 ft/lbs stock. not to mention the LT1 are easyily available.

Ha...this thread reminded me of a guy from HI (Houston Imports) that goes by the name Civette.

I'm sure you can guess why...

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/2004368

Pretty sweet if you ask me...that LS1 would be fvcking quick without those several extra pounds...

Exact size...he just had to move the hatchback rear out 1" to fully fit from the Corvette...

*sigh* I dunno about this...I just wish I had an LS1 / 2...

/Dream off.

Pete

I'd still pick a 4bt Cummins over both of those gas guzzlers.

^^^ I would like the diesel as well, but that isn't what the thread is about...lol.

Side note, the LS1 is a very fuel efficient motor...

I would go with the 5.0 because I am Ford man. A Ford does not deserve to be humiliated with a chevy motor.

I'm a Ford guy through and through by choice. Taurus, 2 Rangers, Dad's '92 GT 5.0, Windstar...I love driving the stang too...

BUT...if I came across a cheap LS drivetrain...I'm not sure what I would do in the circumstances...

And agreed...a 302 bored and stroked to a 347 is VERY enticing...and they are cheaper/abundant and lighter than the LS, I believe.

And Maurice, you get too much $hit on here. It's not your fault some people have the sense of humor of an asparagus...

Grow some thicker skin.

im with the 347...cheap, easy, and keep ford with ford...a good built 347 is jus as good as a lt or ls, plus with a 347 or 302 alot less wiring...easier to tune considering u dont need computer programs all u need is a screw drivier and alot of people have loads of knowledage on how to tune a good ole carb...

how about a 7.3 turbo? LOL wish it would fit
